The kids have miraculously grown into adults. We treasure family time spent together all the more. For this Christmas holiday, we orchestrate a 5 week family vacation in Bali.
Tim arrives first in order to spend the most time in Bali testing his ability to work from abroad for an extended period. Austin flies in several days later from travelling in Thailand. About a week later, Emma arrives from Santiago, Chile where she is living and working. Finally Julie and Riley hop over from Sonoma.
We have secured a special Airbnb home in Mengwi. It is specially priced because we volunteer, with no hesitation, to care for the homeowners 3 Bali dogs.
Lula, Linda and Billie are rescued street dogs. These are not your average pampered pets. They are smart and very pack oriented. Our daily walks in the neighborhood are really just chaperon events. The dogs know the area and all the dogs therein. Our main concern is keeping this off leash trio out of the way of speeding vehicles and out of trouble. At home, they clearly appreciate their meals and tummy rubs.
Our family time in Bali is punctuated by neighborhood Hindu ceremonies, beach sunsets, island touring and hanging out with each other and the dogs. Tim has found that internet at the house can be problematic. He is more successful at the local “dojo” or co-working space in Canggu - unless the power goes out. But, overall there is potential for working abroad!
