About Us

Hello there! We are the McGees.

Tim and Julie grew up in Southern California, met while pursing degrees in Marine Science at U.C. Santa Barbara, moved to Sonoma in Northern California, got married and raised 3 children.

For their 16th birthdays, we gifted each of those children a trip out of the good old US of A. They went – Austin to Madagascar, Emma to Cambodia and Laos and Riley to New Zealand. As was our desire, they each came home with fresh cultural awareness and appreciation. Unexpectedly, we created travel monsters. Being jealous of their continued journeys and independence, once they launched, we decided it was our turn. Now or never!

Over the last several years we have successfully “lived away” in the United States and abroad by house / pet sitting for others. There is no doubt that this is our kind of travel. Living in a local home, feeling part of a community and being able to provide a service to others who love their animal families as much as we always have, is priceless.

Tim has a 30 year career in I.T. management and software engineering including owning a Geospatial software company, MoosePoint Technology, since the year 2000. This independence allows him to work from anywhere creating custom websites and mapping applications. Julie has worked various jobs and volunteer opportunities fitting around family life - involving children, teaching and animals. She has a TEFL certificate to teach English onsite or online and is an experienced bookkeeper for both the family business and other local businesses.

We are long-term home owners and understand the importance of caring for a home and respecting property. We pride ourselves on our trustworthiness and genuine care for people’s homes and pets which has earned us all 5 star reviews. We are physically fit with no health problems, are non-smokers and have clean driver’s licenses. We love the outdoors, backpacking, hiking, camping and walking to explore new places. We enjoy traveling and feeling part of a community.

Pets have always been an important part of our lives. Besides our own pets, we have often watched and cared for the homes and animals of friends and neighbors while they have been away. Now that most of our pets are gone, we’d love to “borrow” yours. You can be assured we will take great care of them as if they are our own, freeing you to explore the world.
