A Long Northwest Weekend

July 28, 2017

Looking for a long weekend getaway, we search through requests on Trusted Housesitters and apply for a house / pet sit in Washington State. Accepted! We can visit some friends in Poulsbo while there.

We have a bit of time in Seattle prior to the start of our sit and decide to visit the Pop Culture Museum - so worth it for these music fans and sci fi nerds - highly recommend!

The sit takes us east of Seattle to a small town which we are excited to learn served as one of the locales of David Lynch’s “Twin Peaks”. Nerd heaven!

Outside of our little forays into town and to see the sites, we adore spending time with our charges. The house sits at the edge of a forest and we walk daily among the trees with the 3 golden retrievers, Rumi, Dory and Tug. Zucchini is an outdoor cat so we get just a little time with her but do enjoy watching her hunt gophers.

Rumi and Tug are aged goldens. We have a soft spot for these old friends. Having raised 3 dogs of our own, we empathize completely with the desire of humans to leave pets in their familiar homes while they are away. We are happy to step into their comfortable routines and provide love and care.

The rewards are sweet…
